Trusted Vintage Model Train Buyers
With over 18 years of experience as model railway buyers, we know the market inside out, especially when it comes to vintage train sets.
From pre-war Hornby tinplate locomotives to mid-century Märklin electric models, we’ve seen and valued it all. Our specialist understanding of condition, rarity, and brand history means you’ll always receive a fair, informed offer that reflects true collector demand.
If your vintage set is incomplete, needs a paint job, or comes from an inherited collection, we’re still interested. We treat every transaction with care, whether it’s a single rare piece or an entire family collection passed down through generations.
No matter the brand, age, or size of your collection, we’d love to see it, and help you find it a new home with someone who values it as much as you do.
How Littleworth Models Started
Littleworth Models takes its name from the historical Littleworth Station, which opened in 1848 in the village of Deeping St. Nicholas. The station played a key role in transporting agricultural goods, especially potatoes, from Lincolnshire to London.
Although the station closed to passengers in 1961 and ceased operations fully in 1964, its heritage remains a symbol of Britain’s rich railway history. That same love of railway heritage is what inspires our work today, helping vintage trains live on in the hands of collectors who appreciate their timeless craftsmanship.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Do vintage train sets hold more value than modern ones?
Yes, in many cases they do. Factors like brand, age, rarity, and condition all influence value, especially for classic Hornby, Tri-ang, and Märklin sets.
What kind of vintage model trains do you buy?
We are interested in every model train brand. Feel free to contact us if you are unsure where to sell vintage train sets.
I inherited a model train collection. Can I still sell it to Littleworth?
Yes, we regularly buy trains from families that have inherited the sets. Families like to sell to Littleworth because they know the trains are being sold to fellow enthusiasts!
Is there a collection too big or too small for you to buy?
As model train collectors ourselves, we’re interested in every vintage train set, no matter how big or small.
Do you buy incomplete vintage train sets?
Yes! Missing carriages or accessories don’t rule out a sale, we’re happy to value incomplete or partially restored sets.
Can I sell damaged sets to Littleworth?
It depends on the level of damage. We are unable to purchase heavily damaged sets. But it’s always worth getting in touch because we are still interested in trains with very minor wear and tear.
